About the Artist

Lily Lutz (b. 1999) is a spirited artist who grew up on the coast of Ocean Beach, San Diego, where her passion for exploring the paradoxes of beauty through art was first born.

Acrylic paint is Lily’s primary medium, but she has also worked in photographic and digital arts. Her work often contains an overarching theme of powerful femininity and representational subject matter, with her style always teetering between realistic, graphic, and abstract.

At once evocative and soothing, vibrant and grounding, her artwork explores the dynamism between view and viewer, freedom and restraint, and reality and dream. That sensation of tightrope-walking the boundaries between reality, fantasy, and emotion was the focal point of her first solo exhibition in 2021: Ethereal Escape at Art by Inna Gallery in Murrieta, CA.

Upon graduating from UCSB with a B.A. in Art in 2021, Lily was drawn to experience a new coast full of its own unique spirit and vitality. She made her home in the East Village of New York City, where she currently lives and practices.

As Lily navigates her growth as an artist, she continuously strives to evoke emotion through an aesthetic that expresses comfort and chaos harmoniously.
